The Powderoom and Bistro Rollin brought spring in with a Luncheon and Fashion show.

We look forward to this time of year, when color makes a comeback and the layers get lighter said- Scott. From bright light weight fabrics to embellished tunics and cocktails dresses, members of the Junior League of Pelham modeled their looks to perfection. With over 80 people in attendance not one goody bag was missed, nor any detail forgotten or dismissed. Directly following the Luncheon The Powderoom… opened its doors for sales where the party, shopping, laughing and more shopping continued.. It was nice to see the store busy and people enjoying themselves said- Scott.

The Powderoom… a quaint women’s boutique located at 136 Fifth Avenue in the heart of Pelham, New York and Bistro Rollin, also located in Pelham, have joined forces once again. On Saturday, March 5, 2011, Tanya Scott, owner of The Powderoom… and Bistro Rollin owners Arthur, Barbara and Paul Bratone will host their 2nd luncheon and fashion show.

With 2 weeks before the event was set to offically kick off ,they were sold out.. A mouth dropping 75 people had RSVP’D…

The Pelham Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the first FALL FEST. Each year more than 5,000 people come to Pelham to celebrate the start of summer at the Pelham Street Fair on Fifth Ave. and to follow up on that success, the Chamber and its President, John DeCiccio Jr., now invites the public to enjoy the start of fall by visiting downtown Pelham at the Fall Fest.

The effort is being led by Chamber merchants: Christine Farahat, gracious-living.com, Leslie Allicks, lolasteahouse.com, and Tanya Scott, thepowderoomboutique.com. “This is a great opportunity for early holiday shopping and gift ideas. We are looking forward to a large turnout and hope to see you there,” said Tanya Scott.

Reem Acra SPRING 2011 Collection – 9/13/10

As I drove away from “my” Fifth Avenue boutique in Pelham, New York to one of Manhattan”s bigger-than-life Fifth Avenue showrooms, I was filled with excitement. I was in route to one of Fashion Week’s spectacular shows. This season I was fortunate enough to view Spring looks from world–renowned Bridal Designer Reem Acra.

I arrived in Manhattan a little after 11:00am, and as I approached my connect I could see him wrapping up a call. Trying to navigate between tourists, socialites and local business professionals in my four-inch stilettos was a challenge but I was used to it having worked in the city for awhile.

Once upstairs and in the showroom we were greeted with flutes filled with champagne and sparkling water. Past the dramatic red velour curtains in the next room stood a runway that held 16 looks/models in breathtaking Ready-to-Wear designs, one more beautiful than the next. This venue was very different from any I’d been to in the past. It was more of a viewing; I was able to touch fabrics and examine craftsmanship up close and personal. The models were like live mannequins, ready for a photo opt at a moment’s notice.

As for the collection: Multi-color metallic and sequin gowns and shifts filled the room. Long crème high-waist wide-leg trousers paired with a simple but necessary jersey top. Accessories were leather hoop belts and chunky jewel-tone treasures. The color palette was a combination of soft shades, jewel tones and a piece of the earth — a simply amazing color story.

The collection was titled “American Girl: A Modern Day Princess.” And it truly was a real city fairytale.

Friday May 7th, The Junior League of Pelham sphere headed a great event. Localy merchants stayed opened late welcoming new and old customers with special sales, beverages and lite fare. The Powderoom… had and outstanding turnout, we are truly thankful and look forward to next one!

Ok ,so I was going through my WWD’s “Women Wear Daily” the other day and what do I find. Madonna, another celebrity turn Designer. Listen, I have nothing against Madonna, I so appreciate her as an entertainer, and actress. But Designer? Yes it may seem logically or should I say it may have SEEMED logical back in the 80′s, but now why? Over the last decade the fashion industry has become bum rushed and saturated by so many celebrity designers, it really saddens me to see what the industry has conformed to.

Just my opinion! What do you think?
